The Cool Air Rebate Program (the “Program”) is operated by the Car Care Council, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (the “Council” or “we”). In this Privacy Notice, we’ll give you the information about the types of personal information we collect in connection with the Program. “Personal information” means any information that relates to an identified or reasonably identifiable individual or household.
How We Collect Personal Information
We collect personal information from individuals, automotive repair shops, and others that inquire about the Program, apply to participate in the Program, or visit the Program website.
If you apply to participate in the Program, we will collect personal information from you related to your eligibility, including:
- Your name, address, and other identifying information
- Information about your vehicle or repair shop
- Other eligibility information, such as repair shop certifications or eligibility for government benefits.
We may also collect eligibility-related personal information from third party sources, such as entities that offer identity verification services.
We may automatically collect the following types of personal information from and about individuals who visit the Program website:
- Your IP address,
- Technical information about your device and your use of the website,
- General information about where you are located, including country and region, and
- Other information that you voluntarily send to us through the website, such as through a contact form.
How We Use Personal Information
We use the personal information that we collect from or about you for the purposes of:
- Determining your eligibility for the Program,
- Administering, evaluating, and improving the Program and its website,
- Complying with our legal obligations and protecting our legal rights.
We may retain the personal information that we collect from or about you for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfil these purposes.
Disclosure of Personal Information
We may disclose any of the types of personal information described above to:
- Government agencies and third parties for the purpose of determining and demonstrating your eligibility to participate in the Program,
- Service providers who process personal information on our behalf, in accordance with the limits that apply to us under this privacy notice, and
- Others where required by law or applicable rules of professional conduct, in connection with fulfilling a request you made, or in connection with protecting the rights or property of the Council or its affiliates.
Children’s Privacy
The Program website is not designed for use by individuals under the age of 18. If you have concerns relating to the collection of personal data from minors, please email programs@coolairrebate.org.
Do Not Track
The Program website is not currently configured to accept browsers’ “Do Not Track” signals, as no industry-wide standard for handling them has been adopted.
Shine the Light Disclosure
The Program does not use or disclose personal information for direct marketing purposes.
Changes to This Privacy Notice
We will notify you of any changes to this privacy notice by posting the updated notice on this page with its effective date. If the change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you in advance where required by applicable law.
